Making A Trailer

Developing Skills:

  • What is the USP of the film Battleship? 
The USP of Battleship is that has a cast list has the star factor featuring renowned actors and music stars such as Liam Neeson and Rihanna. Another USP is that it is an Apocalyptic Sci-fi action film.

  • Who might be the chosen audience?
The chosen audience would be predominately male, between the age of 16 and 24.

 



  • What might appeal to this audience?
What might appeal to this audience is the action, sci-fi genre. It is a war film. The film also stars Rihanna who would appeal to the audience because they will be attracted to her as both a female and a popular star. Fast paced action, CGI, violence, aliens are also what might attract the audience.

Starting My Research and Developing My Research Skills

In order to begin my advanced portfolio in media I will research the marketing campaign for the recently released film Battleship. I will looked at all of the marketing methods used and how the trailer, posters and magazine covers maintained a USP, signified the genre and had similar stylistic traits. Then using the Film Education Website I will have a go at devising my own trailer for the film employing my recently acquired knowledge about film marketing.

The Brief

A promotional package for a new film, to include a teaser trailer, together with
  • a film magazine front cover, featuring the film;
  • a poster for the film. 

The production element and presentation of research, planning and evaluation may be individual or group work. Where candidates have worked in a group, the evidence for assessment may be presented collectively but centres will still assess candidates on an individual basis for their contribution to aspects of the work, from planning, research and production to evaluation.
